Sword etc, Shields, Nightfall
I've been gone since guild wars first came out. I had a few questions on a couple of things
Current Gear from like 5 1/2 year ago
4 pieces: Dreadnought Elite Dragon
Helm: Radiant Gladiator
Sword: 15-22 Fiery Long Sword Damage +15% (while enchanted)
Enchants last 15% longer custome 20% damage
Shield: Aegis 16ar Receive damage reduced -2 (while enchanted)
1. Best Sword,Axe Attachments... have they changed at all?
2. Armor Runes to put on?
3. What is new that you can upgrade on a shield?
4. Is it worth getting the Gear/Weapon from Hell's Precipice before continuing to nightfall, I saw there was nothing on the gold gear from the vendor (10steel 10, Deld, and 10k) how does it work to get the stats on it if its worth getting?
5. Just started on Nightfall Campaign and pointers on the new styles of gear out there and is it from a city vendor or from after completing nightfall missions?
Thanks for your time if you get a chance to answer.

You really only need decent max weapon/shield: one you have is somewhat lacking
Easier if you catch me online, I am sure I have a decent sword etc I can give you free, and am happy to suggest runes and suchlike.

Hi fellow Warrior.
You seem to have a max shield and sword and max weapons are not hard to come by. But your char seems heavily oriented towards self-enchantments, which is not exactly typical for a warrior nowadays.
I suggest you read the stickies in the Campfire/Warrior section of the forum, and a few of the more recent threads.
Here's a simple and effective insignia and rune setup: Strength on headpiece (+2), Axe, Sword, Hammer on other 3 pieces (+1), Clarity on the fifth. For insignia, Sentinel's on everything (make sure your Strength rank is at least 13) and Stonefist on the hand piece.
Get yourself up to date with the current skills and see what skills/elites you need (if any). You can open a thread in Campfire if you have specific questions (but don't ask "give me a build" outright).
Not sure how the warrior worked back then, but today it's a damage machine. You aggro, you make sure the foes don't get to the rest of the group (aggro control, body blocking), you start mincing them up while the rest of the team stays safe, heals and prots you and throws nasty stuff at the foes.
Important to rembember: it's not about the tanking, it's field control + as much damage as possible. Ie. you're not there to soak up damage, you're there as a road block and to deal damage.
Max up your Strength and weapon attributes and get a Strength-based shield if you don't have one already. Tactics = bad. Specific build advice you can find in the sticky on the Warrior section.

Im a fellow Warrior...
IMO
War build and weapons:
http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:W/any_Enduring_Axe
You'll also want to get some heros to roll through all pve stuff. most all of them are in NF and Eotn:
http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Player_Support
Max your war out with all hp mods...should have:
630 hp and 20-25 energy
As far as style goes...
Armor:Most wars use Elite gladiator (droknars forge/prophceis), Vabbian (nightfall, very expensive) or Obby Armor (core/fissure of woe, very ugly but most expensive so for some reason ppl think its leet)
Weapons: All tormented weapons (expensive, you can start farming them after beating nf, or buy from other players).

armor pieces with 80 armor are the BEST
if its more expensive, it's just to look good, not better.
just thought I should add

There are more builds than just that, and I'd probably recommend DSlash over WE builds.

Ignore this. Armor is generally better than health. Armor insignia should be spent on +armor, not health. Regarding energy, there is no good reason to ever increase your energy above 20.

This isn't really relevant to anything, so I recommend not really taking this into account either. Weapon/armor skins have no relevance whatsoever to their statistical benefits. A collector weapon that you can get for 1k is just as useful as a tormented weapon, which costs 175k+

The sticky has lots of good info in it and will answer most of your questions, but the builds are a little outdated (mostly it's just needing to swap Asuran Scan for something else, so they're still usable).

I recommend sentinals insignias for the armor. A constant +10 armor is always nice and you should always be in a stance as a warrior anyway .
Oh, and go with whichever weapon skins you like best. The wooden buckler happens to be my favorite shield skin, so I use that as my shield. There is no difference between it and the tormented shield (except for the fact that the wooden buckler looks like a real shield and the tormented shield just looks like a flashy purple circle ).

@Lanier, you probably meant Sentry's Insignia.
To the OP: Sentry and Sentinel are probably the best warrior insignia you can have. Sentry raises your armor by 10 when you're in a stance.
Personally I prefer Sentinel because I always keep my Strength attribute up to at least 13 anyway, and I like having 100 AL all-around, both vs physical and elemental, rather than increase one over the other.
I'm not sure what's the deal with Brawler. Their effect is described as taking place "while attacking". This means only while you're auto-attacking or activating attack skills. It does not protect you while you run around or during the initial approach (which is bad). And I'm not sure, while actually engaged in battle, is the protection up non-stop or are there gaps?

Oh yea, I meant sentry's. I dont use sentinals because i dont always have strength at 13 (sometimes i use tactics builds or invest into a secondary prof attribute).

Sentinel insignia FTW. I like armor. A lot.
And since OP is starting NF it will come in handy against those evil ele bosses.

Most important skill on my sin and warrior bar Asuran scan. I hate blocking/missing.

But does Asuran Scan work against blocking stances? The wiki page on "Miss" seems to suggest that blocking is not "missing".

It sure does, whirling defense for instance still does damage but you cannot miss so you always do damage. I love this new asuran scan.

Then I'm officially confused as to why AS would work against blocking. Getting "blocked" is clearly different than getting "missed" and the wiki seems to support this.
If AS works against blocking even though nothing seems to suggest it should, perhaps the wiki should list this as an anomaly.

Are you using the right wiki?
Because if you do it is even on the page:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Asuran_Scan
"This hex only applies to attacks that would otherwise miss or be blocked; it does not prevent hits from line of sight straying, being obstructed, or being dodged. "

The description only mentions miss. Blocked is in the notes. When the description is ambiguous and there's no way of telling whether it's supposed to work against blocked or not, it's grounds for an anomaly note, that's all I'm saying.

That's kind of why I asked which wiki you read. Because on my provided link there is just that anomaly note.
